The Valley's Yarnhouse own brand, spun exclusively for us near Builth Wells, Ryeland wool is soft, resilient, and stretchy, with good insulating properties and excellent stitch definition, making it ideal for textured knitwear, blankets, and other cozy garments. It is known for its natural crimp, which traps air for warmth, and comes in both white and a variety of natural coloured shades, from cream to dark brown, grey, and fawn.

Characteristics of Ryeland wool

  • Softness: Soft and fine, with a Merino-like quality.
  • Elasticity: Bouncy and stretchy, thanks to the natural crimp in the fibers.
  • Stitch definition: Holds excellent definition, making it a great choice for cables and textured patterns.
  • Durability: Resilient and does not felt easily.
  • Coloured: Can be found in shades from dark brown and grey to pale cream and fawn, often with sun-bleached tips that add character - these colours create a beautiful heathered look.
  • We often use this in our heritage and film work
