About Tony

Poet, Artist, Writer, Public Speaker... and knitter!

I aim to live creatively and contemplatively working across art, social purpose, and mindful presence.

As a creative, based here in Wales I try to work to an artistic practice which is intentionally slow and tactile. I have a longstanding love of typewriters and analogue tools, drawn to their rhythm, resistance, and honesty; writing crafting and making this way invites deep attentiveness and presence for myself when creating and hopefully brings joy to those who find my works.

For nearly three decades, I have also walked alongside people and organisations working to reduce inequality and uphold human dignity and work towards rbuilding dignity-led, community-rooted responses in communities across the world. This has taken me internationally, supporting community projects, fostering conversations, and offering perspectives that resist simplification and honour complexity.

Although The Yarnhouse is my 'baby' (alongside my dog Draig) I still consult on projects across the world on bringing communities together, I volunteer as a buddhist chaplain for large organisations engaging in spiritual wellbeing and I enjoy working nationally across the UK as a consultant on public policy development and community resilience through charing conferences with the Institute of Government and Public Policy, supporting the work of Disabled Artists' Organisations and volunteering within our own community.

Alongside this I have a passion for knitting, yarn-making, farming, wool-work and more which has lead me excitingly to meet people who have taught me much about yarn-crafts. I have shared these learnings in books, with museums and exhibitions and in TV and film... I have loved every minute I have spent in the company of fellow knitters and this is why I built the Yarnhouse.

At the heart of all this work, whether through The Yarnhouse, consulting, chaplaincy, or policy spaces, is a belief in connection: between people, place, making, and meaning. The Yarnhouse I hope holds all of these threads together for me. It is where creativity, care, and community meet; where slow making becomes a quiet act of resistance; and where I hope others might find space to pause, reflect, and feel a little more at home in themselves and the world.

At the Yarnhouse, you can see my studio, with big windows to see my work, crafts or writing as I work... come by and wave, say hello.
