Admiral's Gansey

Knitted to order, in soft cream wool, the Admiral’s Gansey is a more leisurely interpretation of our traditional working gansey—designed not for the deck, but for life shaped by the sea. Drawing on the same deep seafaring heritage, this version celebrates the gansey as a garment of status, skill, and quiet distinction.

Cut with a more forgiving, relaxed fit, the Admiral’s Gansey allows space for more intricate knitwork, showcasing patterns that once spoke of rank, region, and the hand that made them. Entirely knitted by hand, it reflects a slower, more considered pace of making, where time and craft are visible in every stitch.

While still warm, durable, and rooted in function, this gansey is designed for comfort and longevity rather than hard labour—an expression of maritime tradition worn ashore as much as at sea. Finished with our wooden “Knitted at Sea”logo, carved with a tall ship.
