Fisherman's wool hat

Inspired by the working coasts of the UK, each fisherman’s wool hat is handmade at the Yarnhouse in Abertillery, carrying forward a tradition shaped by wind, weather, and working seas. Crafted from 100% wool and naturally protected by lanolin oils, these hats are designed to hold their own against coastal winds and shifting tides, while remaining comfortable and breathable for everyday wear.

Finished with our signature wooden “Knitted at Sea” toggle, each piece reflects a commitment to honest materials and enduring craftsmanship. Available in cream, oatmeal, and heather-brown, the collection balances timeless coastal style with modern utility.

A more traditional version is also available, knitted from 100% Welsh and Cornish Ryeland wool yarn for added historical accuracy. This same attention to detail has seen our hats commissioned for museums, stage, television, and film, where authenticity is essential and shortcuts aren’t an option.
