Natural Welsh Fleece for Wet Felting

This raw sheep fleece, sourced from farms in the Welsh valleys, is ideal for making strong felted rugs and textiles using traditional wet-felting methods.

Wet felting works by combining heat, moisture, and agitation, allowing the wool fibres to naturally lock together — no spinning needed.

How to Use:

1. Prepare – Skirt and wash the fleece in lukewarm soapy water to remove dirt and excess lanolin.
2. Lay Out – Place a base layer of carded wool, then arrange the fleece locks on top.
3. Wet – Soak thoroughly with hot water and soap.
4. Agitate – Rub through netting or tulle to encourage fibres to bind.
5. Felt – Roll, press, or trample to create a dense, durable felted backing.
6. Dry – Allow to dry fully over several days.
